A day in the life of Aaron Palushaj

February 24, 2012

Wake up.

Try to figure out where you are.

It smells like steel and self-loathing.

You must be in Hamilton.

Pick up ringing cell phone.

You’re needed in Montreal.

Hastily pack gear and a couple of suits.

Book it to the airport. Maybe you can get something to eat on the way.

Land in Montreal.

Book it to Brossard. Maybe you can get something to eat there.

Practice with teammates.

Fight with PK Subban.

Go to hotel. Maybe you can get something to eat in the hotel restaurant.

Take nap.

Wake up.

Try to figure out where you are.

It smells like cigarettes and entitlement.

Great, you’re in Montreal.

Pick up ringing cell phone.

You’re being sent back down to Hamilton.

Book it to airport. They have a Tim Hortons there, right?

Land in Hamilton.

There is a message on your cell phone.

You’re needed in Montreal. One of the forwards was rushed back from injury to boost his trade value and it must have backfired.

Get back on a flight to Montreal. They have snacks on the plane, right?

Land in Montreal.

Your cell phone is ringing.

Pitch cell phone into the nearest toilet.

Flush.

Walk over to the Tim Hortons.
