Bruins-Habs Game 5 – Hockey gods on steroids

April 24, 2011

  • Ouf.
  • Ouch.
  • Argh.
  • Bleah.
  • Gah.
  • Bah.
  • Ugh.
  • This is why you watch sports. This is why you love sports. This is why you live for sports. This is why you throw your remote at the TV.
  • Third game in a row the Habs could have had. But this time it wasn’t a shitty first period, a shitty third period or a line change brain fart that cost them. It was  the bounces.
  • The hockey gods hate Habs fans almost as much as they hate Leafs fans, apparently.
  • Still really tough to see a loss after an effort like that.
  • That said, had the Habs played a little better during the first and second, the game would never have gone into overtime.
  • If Andrew Ference flipping off the Bell Centre crowd is alright with you, then stop getting outraged over Max Pacioretty’s stupid tweet. End of story.
  • It’s sad that Carey Price and Lars Eller can have a game like that and yet people will still be crying about Halak if the Habs don’t make it to the  conference finals.
  • David Desharnais pretty much played the entire first overtime period. Well-deserved ice time.
  • Amusing, encouraging, and sometimes frustrating to see how committed both teams were to their line changes during overtime. Hah.
  • By the time this post makes it online, I estimate that there will already have been about 4700 jokes about the Habs rising from the dead. They are not dead, yo. There are two games to be played.
  • Yes, two.

Nobody thought the Rangers were going to do anything against the Capitals and yet I still drop kicked a bottle of Purell clear off my balcony when their last game ended. I do not know where it landed.

    * Love the Ference/Pacioretty comparison
    * I think I’m fortunate – this is the first time I’ve heard Halak’s name mentioned yet.
    * We come into 6 as underdogs. CowboyUp.

Some jerk mentioned it the previous game.

COWBOY UP only applies to the ’04 Sox!

That Bruce Arthur guy is hilarious but I don’t think Gionta had any energy left in him after the first period. The weight of Gomez takes a lot out of a guy I guess.

I’m more wall-punching over the flubbed shots by Cammalleri. Flubbed but mostly missed. The Jedi has Stormtrooper aim.

I know, what the fuck was whatever Cammalleri’s been doing lately?

I know this is an odd idea, but for next game, bring Pouliot back, sit Moen, and move DD to 2nd line center. I also want to see Weber in for Spacek.

    AK-Plecks-Cammy – Skill line
    Gionta-DD-Eller – Workhorse line
    Pouliot-Gomez-Darche – Last Chance Line
    Moen-Halpern-White – Shutdown Line

    Gill-PK
    Hammer-Weber
    Wiz-Sopel

I know game 6 with our backs to the wall isn’t the time to screw around with the lines, but it just might work.

    But I’m not a coach…other than armchair. 🙂

Just realized I said to sit Moen, then put him on the 4th line. My bad.

Now scrap it all, ’cause DD apparently has a knee injury….DAMMIT!!!

Moen got no hands but he’s the only Canadien who remembers to forecheck. We needs him.

An injured player has no business tweeting about an opponent unless he has a pair to back it up. Save it for next year Maxwell. Ference flipped the bird and has the guts to show up at the Forum in game 6. Well done Andrew!

I suppose you missed the part where he said his finger went up accidentally. If he’d owned what he did I’d have more respect for him. That was not accidental.
