Quick and cheap: things to make you feel better

May 25, 2010

Alright, Habs fans, some of you have had your cries/rages/meltdowns and called for firings and trades all over the internet but it’s time to move on. Most of us are glad we got a great playoff run and are now adopting the Blackhawks, cause really, why wouldn’t you? Just in case you’re still in a crappy mood, I happen to have come across some numbers that may give you something to smile about. You know all this already, but on the off-chance you’ve forgotten:

19 The number of playoff games the Montreal Canadiens played this year.
0 The number of playoff games the Toronto Maple Leafs played this year.

5 The number of years that Michael Cammalleri is under contract with the Habs.
0 The number of years that Michael Cammalleri is under contract with the Leafs.

April 10th: The day the Toronto Maple Leafs played their last hockey game of the 2009-2010 season.
May 24th: The day the Montreal Canadiens played their last hockey game of the 2009-2010 season.

4 The number of seasons since the lockout in which the Habs made the playoffs.
0 The number of seasons since the lockout in which the Leafs made the playoffs.

1 The number of first round picks the Habs have in this year’s draft as of this blog post.
0 The number of first round picks the Leafs have in this year’s draft as of this blog post.

41 The number of playoff games the Habs have played in the last six years.
0 The number of playoff games the Leafs have played in the last six years.

6 The number of years since the Leafs played a playoff game.
<1 The number of days since the Habs played a playoff game.

5 The number of years that Michael Komisarek is under contract with the Leafs.
0 The number of years that Michael Komisarek is under contract with the Habs.

76 The number PK Subban wears for the Habs.
76 The number he will likely never wear for the Leafs because if the Habs ever lose him the fans might assassinate one or more members of the Canadiens’ management team.

2nd: The 2010 draft pick that the Boston Bruins will likely use to select Tyler Seguin, the centre that could have played with Phil Kessel.

Friendly reminder: Should the Chicago Blackhawks win the Stanley Cup, our beloved Toronto Maple Leafs will be left with the longest Stanley Cup drought in history. If you are cheering for the Flyers you’re doing it wrong, as great as their story is.

We will always have the bet wins. And PK Subban. And the Leafs fans? Will not.

AWESOME!! You’re right – that DOES make me feel a lot better!

Ah, schadenfreude… where would a hockey fan be without your loving arms?

    How about this:

May 24th, 2010: the last time the Habs played a meaningful game
October 31st, 2009: the last time the Leafs played a meaningful game

3 Number of players with 1,000 points in a Habs uni
0 Number of players with 1,000 points in a Leafs uni

This means that all their stars over the years have been even more overrated than we thought.

By the way the B’s have the Leafs 1st rd pick in ’11 as well.

More Leafs bashing, check out this annual ESPN poll on Ultimate Team Rankings and where the Leafs are. Scroll down for an about an hr!

Other than the fact that they have Toews, the main reason why I’m cheering for the Hawks is so that the Leafs will have the longest playoff drought…. 😀
