Caps-Habs Game 1: TOW the bet got out of the way

April 16, 2010

Back, though not necessarily by popular demand, are the postgame posts… for the playoffs, at least, we’ll see what happens if this blog is still alive next season.

I’ma take a page out of therangersfan‘s book, because it’s his birthday, and do Good, Bad, Ugly:

The Good Awesome:

  • The Cammalleri is fixed, guys.
  • OMG Jacques Martin knows how to do adjustments.
  • NO TRAP! I hate trap hockey. I like run-and-gun hockey, and there will be no trapperating in this series.
  • Jaroslav Spacek and Roman Hamrlik. Ovechkin had ZERO effin shots.
  • Plekanec got the last word on Theo, in that game at least.
  • I got a headache from the smell of all that team spirit.
  • Stealing Home Ice Advantage? Sign me up.
  • EDGE IN GOALTENDING HABS HAS IT.
  • ‘G’ is for playoff performer: Gomez, Gionta, Gill (And, as I think Matthew Ross pointed out on twitter, Gainey).
  • All of a sudden MAB has learned to make good non-fatal defensive decisions.
  • All over twitter last night, fans of other teams, INCLUDING BOSTON, were cheering on our Habs. Except, of course, the Leafs fans, because they hate joy, kittens, and children.
  • MetricJulie does not have to sing some Maple Leafs-related made-up song on the radio.
  • I win my bet against the evil PPP (although he has vowed to suck all the joy out of it).
  • TorontoMike and PPP.
  • The Caps were getting pretty frustrated by the end of it.
  • Except when it’s the Ottawa Senators, I love when the underdog wins.
  • Jose Three-or-more lives.
  • Jacques Martin may have shown some emotion.
  • Hal Gill earned his year’s paycheck last night.
  • My Habs spent so much time in the Caps’ zone there is now a CH flag in it.

The Bad Worrisome:

  • That first period by the Habs (would be under Ugly below if not for Halak).
  • You can’t hold an Ovechkin to zero (ZERO!!!) shots all the time.
  • You also can’t hold the Semins, the Backstroms (despite the goal), and all those other useless scrubs on that team to such a crap effort all the time.
  • Habs only gotta do this 15 more times.
  • Caps will come out BLAZIN next game. And if they play any kind of well, Habs be in trouble.
  • In addition to run-and-gun hockey, I like big clean hits (and also goonery) and none of the pansies on either one of these teams were too interested in big hits that game.
  • I gotta figure out how the hell to design a t-shirt now.

The Ugly Gruesome:

  • TSN’s pun: “NO-VECHKIN”
  • For the love of God, Habs, can ANY one of you finish a check?
  • Or start one?
  • I miss O’Byrne for that very reason, although he’s not enough of a skater to keep up with Washington.
  • TOO MANY MEN HAS NO PLACE IN THE PLAYOFFS, IDIOT HABS. What are you, Boston?

O’Byrne can skate as well as MAB, I reckon. Semin has a tendency to disappear for long stretches at a time, so hopefully they can ‘hold the Semins’ back (tee hee).

The lack of physicality is a huge worry but we should all savor the sweet, sweet taste of Theodore’s tears.

PS: let me know if you need help with the shirt. I’d love to help embarrass a Leaf fan. More so.

oh my god, this is so good I’m going to come back and read it later and then a third time and maybe a fourth.

The bad news: It’s impossible for Martin to get out of the first two rounds. The good news is that you have a 1st round draft pick anyway!

I think Gionta had the most hits on the Habs side. That’s right, all two of them. But one was on Ovechkin!

    5’7 CANNONBALL!

I’m sad my blog is dead because my team is deader, but GBUs are all kinds of fun and fast to type.
