What Lou did in 3 steps…

February 4, 2010

Step 1: Get a player he didn’t really need.

Step 2: Ship off some players he didn’t really need.

Step 3: Give himself a bonus trade asset. I was watching tonight’s game with some friends and the general consensus was that the chances of Kovalchuk staying in Jersey are about zero point zero. Now Lou’s got a superstar whose rights he can trade in the offseason… or a superstar he can trade at the deadline (although that’s unlikely, given their chances at the Cup this year). But the absolute genius in this trade is that he kept Kovy off the Rangers and now controls where Kovy goes (or stays) before the playoffs.

What the Habs did in 3 easy payments:

Installment 1: Halak stole two points in Boston.

Installment 2: Brian Gionta reminded you that you want his captainbabies.

Installment 3: The Habs extended the Bruins’ losing streak to nine games, which makes me want to do a little dance.

In sad news, Ryan O’Byrne lost his mother to breast cancer last week. Our condolences, thoughts and prayers go out to OB and his family.

Lou once again proved why he is the best GM/Pres in all of North American sports. This trade puts the Devils right up there with the Hawks and Caps.

As the window slowly closes on Marty’s brilliant career. This move was intended for another Cup run by the Devils.

This was steal for the Devils. Props to Lou!

      Sheer genius.

Think Marty can win Olympic gold and a Cup in the same year?

Marty certainly can. He is different. If he completes the double – then you have to consider him as one of the greatest players of all time. Gretzky, Orr, Lemieux category.

If Waddell keeps his job…. WOW. And look at me, I found your fancy new subscription tab! You build it, I come.
