Postgame 32: Grab your pitchforks

December 10, 2009

Okay. Anyone who knows me knows I don’t normally complain about officiating. When at the Bell Centre, I do not boo refs who call the play when the Habs are offside, or who don’t dish out penalties for clean hits on the Habs, or who don’t call a no-goal. When at home, I only ever scream and kick puppies when the Habs are not scoring on the PP, but I’m silent on the refs. I am not like certain Toronto Maple Leafs fans who can’t let a 16-year-old officiating gaffe go, and for the record, it did not cost them a Stanley Cup because they would have spectacularly failed in the finals anyway.

But I am never, ever going to understand why Chris Lee is still employed. He is by far the worst ref I have seen in my life in any sport, and I fucking watch soccer football.

How does this guy still have a job? I want to know who he’s blowing or what he has on whoever the fuck keeps him employed (is it Colin Campbell?). More importantly, how do we get him fired?

That said, the Habs tried. The Penguins are… well, they’re amazing, but the Habs kept up and totally controlled the game for stretches in all three periods and all three of their goals (ha!) were a result of good communication, hard work and knowing how to capitalize on their chances.

Game 32 Gionta love: The Montreal Canadiens Penalty Kill!

Andrei Markov: Unless he can get Chris Lee fired…

Goalie Guessing Game: I really don’t know.

Chris Higgins Career Watch: 3-game point streak.

Ugh. I need a shower I’m so disgusted with Chris Lee.

Chris Lee needed an escort out of the Bell Center to get another doughnut with his pal Koharski.

Yes but we’re Habs fans. We’ll find a way.

There is no emoticon to express the rage I am feeling.

Is there one to express how ridiculous Chris Lee is?

Gotta feel for Gomez. I think he really wants to score a big goal for this team and that could have been it.

I don’t know if you saw the postgame interview, but his mouth was saying the cliche things while his face was saying “Sob.”

I just wanted to give him a hug.

And inside he was all rage. But if the League could hear that internal voice, he’d be fined 10k per line and get slapped with a reputation.

If by certain Leafs fans, then you must mean all Leafs fans. No one has gotten over that in city, in spite of the fact that they had game seven two night later in Toronto. And up until May 29, 1993 the Leafs had never lost a game seven at the Gardens. Now that night was an epic, Wayne Gretzky playing his self-described “greatest game of his career” fail.
