Game 30 – Orange is universally unflattering – Philadelphia Flyers at Montreal Canadiens December 7

December 7, 2009

The Habs come down from the clouds tonight as the unraveled, angry Philadelphia Flyers stop by with a lot to prove.

I have a love-hate relationship with the Philadelphia Flyers. I love them, except when they’re eliminating the Habs from the playoffs or criminally injuring other players.

I obviously don’t want them to win tonight, but I certainly don’t mind watching them beat other teams. Unfortunately, that hasn’t happened too much lately, but fortunately, Whiny Crybaby Coach Stevens has been canned and Philly got themselves a real coach this weekend.

Three questions:

1. Is the city of Edmonton over the whole Chris Pronger thing yet?
2. Was Friday’s game the turning point for the Habs season or are they going to have to bring out the legends to warm-up before every game from now on?
3. Given how injury-prone this year’s Habs have been, and how injure-prone the Flyers are, will the Habs survive this game without breaking any bones?

Three predictions:

1. With Danny Carcillo suspended, Pronger will happily take over the dirty cheapshot duties for this game.
2. Maxim Lapierre will manage to get Ray Emery to punch him and get thrown out of the game.
3. That will drastically improve the Flyers’ current goaltending situation.

Laviolette doesn’t strike me as a Flyers coach. He’s not goon-y enough.
