Two (three) down, two to go

November 23, 2009

Fat Gui? Traded. (Benoit Pouliot? IR for the next week or two)

LOLLaraque? Suspended for the next week and a half.

That’s two of them taken care of.

What can we do with the other two?

What I like about this trade:

1. It sends a message to underachieving local boys.
2. Maybe Fat Gui and Benoit Pouliot each need a change of scenery.
3. Fat Gui just wasn’t cutting it.
4. The fact that BP is injured is an excellent excuse to call Sergei up without having to call Sergei up.

What I don’t like:

1. Despite the fact that I haterated on Fat Gui, I really liked him before this season.
2. Now he’s away from his baby 😦
3. BP is pretty much an unknown and we still don’t know if he’s a first round bust.
4. It makes Kibbles sad.

I was actually dreaming up a Gui trade to the Oilers for another underachieving 1st rounder Gagner… ’cause they could have maybe both used a change of scenery, and Gagner with Sergei = find them a Kane (Cammy!) and the points will just ooze out of their brains (ew?).

Now I’m just sad it wasn’t for Cal Clutterbuck, but I guess we have enough of his type of players eh.

    Stuff I don’t like:
(I’m citing Sean Gordon’s French Immersion blog at the Globe here)

“Never mind that Tender was replaced by another Francophone, in the form of Minny underachiever Benoit Pouliot.

Quoth CKAC host Jean-Charles Lajoie: ‘on remplace des Québécois par des Franco-Ontariens.’

Now, Lajoie is an imbecile, a cretin and a plagiarist, who to use author Dany Laferrière’s deliciously withering expression, ‘lives beyond his intellectual means.’

And this here Franco-Ontarian will be pleased to teach Lajoie some manners if he ever decides to man up and, you know, actually show up at a practice or game involving the team he purports to know so well.”

So yeah, the notion that Pouliot isn’t French enough (even though he’s from the heart of Franco-Eastern Ontario) angers me.

On a plus side, relating to your two/three down title I couldn’t help but think of Les Als. They looked great kicking the shit out of BC and should get AC his second Grey Cup this weekend. I’ll be there cheering them since my Argos were worse than the Leafs this year (and that’s saying something.)

      He forgot “fat.”
