Game 18 – Goalie on the Grill – Calgary Flames at Montreal Canadiens November 10

November 9, 2009

First off, an Active Stick Prediction:

The 2010 Stanley Cup Finals will be between the Chicago Blackhawks and the Philadelphia Flyers. The Hawks will win.

Just thought I’d throw that out there so that when Captain Gionta hoists the Cup in June after a long, hard-fought series against the Calgary Flames you can all refer back to this and make fun of me for life.

And if the Habs win this game, I will hoist a cup of my own. It will contain tequila.

And also I’ll send some to the goalies.

Just how bad is this D?

You may have already seen this by Habs Eyes On The Prize. It pretty much shows that we can draw Price-Halak battle lines and argue goalies to death as much as we want, but the real problem lies with the D.

It’s quite depressing. I guess this is what happens when you’re missing three regular D-men and, as much as some of us hate to admit it, Mike Komisarek’s shot-blocking skillz. That’s right, with a ‘z’.

I’m going back to calling both goalies Sitting Duck.

Three questions:

1. Is Iginla awesome, or is he amazingly awesome?
2. Do the Flames have, like, a back-up goalie?
3. Will Benching the Frenchies be a recurring event, or has it worked?

Three predictions:

1. Andrei Kostitsyn will score a goal.
2. Sitting Duck will not play very confidently.
3. There will be more penalty parading.

    1. Yes.
    2. Curtis McElhinney! Usually goes in when the Flames feel it’s time to mail some games.
    3. Yes, no. Call up Conboy.
