Game 14 – The Hockey Horror Picture Show – Toronto Maple Leafs at Montreal Canadiens October 31

October 31, 2009

Meh. I’m not hopeful for this game at all. Call me a bad fan, but the Toronto Maple Leafs always seem to be able to kick the Habs when they’re already down and the fans are already depressed.

Still. The Habs are a WAY better team. Don’t get me wrong, the Habs aren’t looking good, but they’re certainly better than the Leafs. Which is why if the Habs lose tonight, there will be tears. And blood.

Welcome back: Mike Komisarek

Remember last season, when we were all thinking re-signing Mike Komisarek was the team’s top priority? And how we worried when we heard he hadn’t been offered a deal well into June? And at the end of June, when it came out that Bob Gainey was in fact negotiating with him, the fact that he hadn’t signed kept us up at night? And then, when, hours into free agency we found out he had signed with the Toronto Maple Leafs of all teams, remember how it drove some Habs fans to insanity?

Are we still freaking out? Hahahaha.

First of all, nobody never bought any of that shit he said about signing with Toronto. He signed with Toronto for two reasons: He wanted a spot on the Olympic team, and they were offering him an obscene amount of money.

Which is funny, because he appears to be playing himself right off of Team USA right in front of Burkie’s eyes. Warming up the penalty box, scoring own goals, minus-6-ing, I could go on. I mean, he’s probably going to be on Team USA in the end cause like, it’s 14 games into the season, and he can’t be this bad for that long. Can he?

He could get better.

But Mike Komisarek in Toronto so far has proven two things:

1. Andrei Markov was about a million times better than even I thought, and you know how I loves my Markov.
2. Mike Komisarek is really just a poor man’s Brooks Orpik with an even more inflated contract.

Anyway, now that the hurt-and-angry part is out of the way…

Three Questions:

1. Andrei Kostitsyn: lost cause?
2. Guillaume Latendresse: lost cause?
3. How many fights do you think there will be this game?

Three Predictions:

1. The Bell Centre’s reception of Mike Komisarek: Ugly, loud, classless, ugly.
2. Grabovski: will score a weak one and it will piss me off.
3. Brian Gionta: big game.

RT @mlse All indications point to a Montreal win RT @jonas640 all indications point to Vesa Toskala starting in goal.

until Markov gets it done in the playoffs like Gonchar did, he’ll always be slightly over-rated to me.

1)Andrei Kostitsyn: lost cause I said so
    2)Latendresse: he’s only what, 12? No…22. Bigger players don’t usually start progressing until they’re 25.
    3)only 2 fights 😦

    1. Andrei Kostitsyn: lost in space, needs a teddy, or Sergei. Or just needs a hug.
    2. Guillaume Latendresse: cocktease
    3. Someone was slapped by Pleky, Stewart tried to maul someone who knocked him down, ref gave Chipper 2 minutes for talking. Truculent?

1.Sergei. He needs Sergei. Kost-Plek-Kost would be a money second line if Sergei hadn’t irreversibly damaged his relationship with the Habs.
