Postgame 12: Oy. Vey.

October 28, 2009

I don’t really want to talk about it. I know it happens to everyone, that it’s quite common and that it’s not a big deal, but I really don’t want to talk about it.

Game 12 Gionta love: Loses the puck to a Penguin during the power play then skates across the ice right away and wins it back like it didn’t happen.

Andrei Markov: Seriously, WHY?

Goalie Guessing Game:  Sieve A or Sieve B? Okay, that’s cruel. The D was really the Sieve this game, but it’s not like the goaltending was excellent or anything.

Chris Higgins Career Watch: I don’t even want to know where we’re at right now.

What Pittsburgh Learned From Detroit in 2008: They can’t get anything going if you’re just sort of casually in the way, oh about, 100% of the time.

As I said to you by phone, the Penguins are the best team in hockey by far. The Avalanche are edging people here and there, but the Pens are destroying their opponents.

We can’t beat the Islanders. When does Tortorella’s bully routine get old?

Tortorella is the kind of coach that the players buy into for a while, and then he suddenly loses them overnight.

I like him, for entertainment value. I know he won a Stanley Cup, but I kind of wish the Rangers had hired Cory Clouston and the Sens had hired Torts.

The Eastern Conference would be shaping up more to my liking that way.

As for the Penguins being the best team in hockey, I don’t dispute that, but the Habs didn’t even put up a fight after the first. Coulda been a much closer result.

Yes, we’re edging teams and grinding out wins but what more could you expect from the Avs?

Penguins are probably the best team so far, though I still have faith in the Capitals.

Torts is a bully and I’d also like him coaching the Sens (would love to see how Spezza reacted to him). But Sens won’t be able to keep it up. Kovalev won’t let them/their defence.

Don’t worry about the Habs. They get the Leafs on Saturday night. Nuff said.
