Postgame 9: Goals!

October 23, 2009

I watched this game on TSN. More quick notes because I am Le Tired again:

Apparently the team the Habs were playing today is called John Tavares.

How cute was Carey when Pierre McGuire was fawning all over him and Carey was trying to pretend he couldn’t hear?

How cute was Carey high-fiving everyone when MaxPac scored?

How cute is Halak going to be in goal against NYR on Saturday?

John Tavares (!!!)

Martin Biron and his crazy eyes have been beaten. Who knew all it took was a bunch of smurfs and a grinder or two?

Pierre and “Gordo” were right, Mara did play his best game as a Canadien so far. Maybe he and his lack of brainfarts can rub off on Hal Gill.

I love, love, love Glen Metropolit. Best “fourth line” centre I can think of right now.

Props to Chipchura for not backing down from a fight. Also props to him for not being a minus-7 for this game. That or props to the team for only letting in one goal.

John Tavares (!!!)

The Maxes had a good game. Are you paying attention, Gui?

Whenever Halak goes behind the net to play the puck I start having heart attacks. And tonight he showed why.

Will they hurry up and give Brian Gionta the C already?

MAB did have an infinitely better game. What a shot!

Okay, I know it’s the Islanders, I mean John Tavares, but it was still an extremely important W for the Habs. Two points, and some confidence heading into Saturday’s game against NYR, whom you all know I have a little crush on.

The tragedy here is that I will not be able to watch the game because I will be at Yankee Stadium for Game 6 of the ALCS.

Yes, how tragic that you get to go watch the Yankees clinch at home.

Also tragic: Some dude at work is going to this game and I am not.

Brian Gionta? Captain? Look, I like him too (well not as much as you) but you would give it to a player who has played exactly nine games for the Habs over General Markov? Blasphemy Laura!

      Markov will say no.

And how many of the guys on the current roster have played 82 games with Markov?

The last captain took no end of shit because he didn’t speak French, but Markov speaks neither French nor English. What exactly makes Markov a more suitable leader?

The team has seemed to feed off of Gionta’s energy. There’s no quit in him.
