Postgame 3: Almost as good as a win?

October 7, 2009

Ignore the L and the Montreal Canadiens-Patented Second Period Suck.

The Habs played their best period since Markov went down. In March.

Andrei Kostitsyn has decided to become a hockey player again. New and improved, now with 60% less brainfart!

Plekanec seems to have caught whatever bug the Smurfs have that makes them awesome every game.

I think that first period was a glimpse of what Martin wants to do with this team. The Habs played one of the toughest and best teams in the league, and kept up. Dominated, at times.

Skipping over the second period shit shower… to the third… I’d say they kept up okay. The effort was there, the Kipper more so.

Can’t wait to see what happens when this team really gets going. And learns to win a faceoff once in a while.***

Things are looking good. 🙂

As an aside, I love watching Calgary play. I find them so much more entertaining than the Canucks, and I hate when people say the Canucks are “Canada’s best chance” for a Stanley Cup. Cause, no, they’re not, and they’re not actually all that good, really. Really. I wouldn’t lie to you.

Speaking of the Canucks…

***Okay, I checked the stats and the faceoff stats for Montreal weren’t as terrible as I had thought for this game.

Kyle Chipchura was 100% on faceoffs. 😛

Pleks was 100% in the offensive zone but 25% for the D-zone.
